After a theoretical analysis of degraded industrial areas and their potentials for redevelopment, this project develops a revitalization program for an abandoned metal/sewing factory located in Krško, Slovenia. In 1965 the old factory building, which had been used to produce metal structures, was taken over by the Labod Clothing Company, which added a new building unit to the industrial complex. As a result of the crisis of the Slovenian textile industry, the Labod Factory had to close after 2003. The new function of the former industrial complex is defined as an intergenerational center, bringing the older (independent seniors) middle (freelancers, members of cultural societies) and younger (scouts, guests of elementary schools) generations together within renewed living units. The design program also considers the surroundings of the factory buildings, providing a connection to the city center and thus also new meeting points and places for social activities. The projects places emphasis on the social potential of architectural programs.
